Our Leadership Team
Saumil Shah (Founder)
Saumil Shah has about 32 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry and has worked in different domains such as clinical research, regulatory affairs and intellectual property.
He has done masters in medical pharmacology from B.J Medical College. He has also done PG Diploma in IPR from Nalsar law school and has done Bachelor’s in Law from I.M Nanavati Law College, Ahmedabad.
He has worked in Intellectual Property domain in pharmaceutical industry for about 17 years, wherein he has handled all aspects of patents including patent search, freedom to operate analysis, patent drafting and patent prosecution.
He has also handled patent litigations in India and US, particularly Hatch-Waxman litigations, wherein he was actively engaged in pre-suit work including invalidity searches, non- infringement/invalidation notes plus building an effective litigation strategy. He has also experience of court deposition in patent litigation in US and Europe. He has successfully handled 12+ ANDA litigations including FTF products in US.
He has drafted and filed more than 50 patent applications covering subject inventions including New compound, Formulation, Medical use, Dosage regimen, Polymorph etc. and have prosecuted more than 300 patent applications in all major countries and have successfully received the Grant. He has thorough experience in patent portfolio management and patent curation.
He worked as an active member for pharmaceutical product portfolio management and has made significant contribution in product lifecycle management plus IP generation to add value to the product on commercialization.
Sanjaykumar Patel (Adviser)
Sanjaykumar Patel is the Founder & Principal IP Attorney at EXCELON IP. He is an IP enthusiast.
He has done a Masters in Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (M. Pharm) from L.M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad. He has also studied law from the Faculty of Law at M.S University, Vadodara. He is registered as an Indian Patent Agent and is also eligible to represent at Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
He has worked with many big corporations, which includes Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Intas Pharmaceuticals, Alembic Pharmaceuticals and B&S Groups (UK) where he directed and managed full IP lifecycle for a large number of pharmaceutical products starting from product identification to commercial launch. He perfectly understands the IP needs of an organization, as he himself has played the role of an in-house counsel as well as a Patent Attorney at a law firm.
He is a member of the “IP Collegium” group of the Japan Institute for Promoting Invention &Innovation (JIII), Tokyo representing as Indian Patent Attorney. He is empaneled as a Patent & Trademark Attorney at L.M College of Pharmacy, Anand Pharmacy College, Gujarat Technological University (GTU), D.D University (DDU), L.J Institute of Engineering and Technology (LJIET), Swarnim Startup& Innovation University (SSIU), R.K University (RKU), Saurashtra University and M.S University and many other. He is also an IP Facilitator recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DIPP). He is a mentor and IPR Expert/Patent Attorney at Atal Incubation Centre (AIC), Ahmedabad.
He has also been associated with various national and international Startup incubation and accelerator centers. He is also a visiting faculty at many postgraduate programs, thereby delivering many seminars and lectures on IP, thereby fulfilling his responsibilities towards society by creating IPR awareness, and providing guidance and assistance to young students.
